Where may a graduate of your program work?

Primary Care Paramedics may work in municipal or private ambulance services, industrial first aid settings, stable patient transfer services, and the military. While we can not guarantee job placement, graduates of our Primary Care Program are currently employed as Paramedics in:

  • The City of Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service,
  • Within EMS services in Manitoba through Regional Health Authorities,
  • Search and Rescue Divisions within the Canadian Military,
  • EMS services in a multitude of jurisdictions (including Ontario, Saskatchewan, Alberta and the United States)

Is your program accredited?

Yes. Criti Care’s program is recognized in a multitude of jurisdictions, and is currently accredited by:

  • Canadian Medical Association (CMA) Conjoint Accreditation - Primary Care Program
  • Manitoba Health, Emergency Health Services
  • Alberta College of Paramedics
  • Saskatchewan Health
  • North Dakota State Department of Health
  • National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (US)

How long is your program?

Currently the PCP Program is delivered both as a full time and a part time program; intake for new students takes place in March and September for the full time program and September exclusively for the part time program. The full time course is approximately 8 months in duration while it typically takes 18 months for a part time student to complete the didactic and clinical components

What are the prerequisites?

Prospective students must have Grade 12, GED or university degree (download prerequisites by clicking here or on the "Download Forms" button on the Primary Care Paramedic page). Students need to be in good general physical health, and capable of obtaining a Manitoba Class 4 Driver’s License. Certain clinical sites may require a criminal background check.

What is a Primary care Paramedic?

PCP is a new designation for Paramedicine. The scope of practice for a PCP most closely relates to the former classification for EMT II or EMT Intermediate. (Download our Functional Job Analysis for further information).
